Work or Community Service Guidance and Toolkit Released: Class of 2020

May 21, 2019 6:49 AM | Ohio ACTE (Administrator)

Students in the class of 2020 may use a work or community service experience to satisfy a component of Ohio’s graduation requirements. For the class of 2020, state law directed the Ohio Department of Education to develop guidance for districts or schools to approve and verify students’ work or community service experiences, so these experiences can satisfy graduation requirements.

The Class of 2020 Work or Community Service Experience guidance document now is available here.

The Department also has developed this Work or Community Service Toolkit that districts and schools can use to support implementation of this graduation option. The toolkit offers answers to frequently asked questions.

Direct additional questions to gradrequirements@education.ohio.gov.

Capstone project guidance for the class of 2020 and supporting materials will be available by May 31.
