On Nov. 29, 2022, members of Ohio ACTE and OACTS provided testimony to Ohio Senate Leaders and the Ohio Senate Education Committee in support of Senate Bill 178. Under Senate Bill 178, the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) would be under a cabinet-level official in the governor’s office, and be renamed "Department of Education and Workforce," DEW for short. The cabinet official would oversee the two divisions of the department - primary and secondary education and workforce training. Currently, the state school board oversees the ODE.
