Career Exploration programs for Students, Educators and classrooms through the Cleveland Clinic

Center for Youth and College Education

The Cleveland Clinic Center for Youth and College Education (CYCE) was created in 2022 with the goal of offering programming that prepares the next generation of caregivers to join the healthcare workforce. The programs run by the center give youth and college learners career exploration opportunities in a healthcare environment, engage learners in real-world immersive learning experiences and offer educational programming that equips learners with necessary professional skills.

For students and educators throughout Ohio, Connected Career Rounds is a free online program that brings in teams of Cleveland Clinic caregivers every other week from October-March to discuss their careers and walk through care scenarios. Teachers and administrators can sign up entire classrooms to attend live sessions, or anyone can view them on-demand on the Connected Career Rounds on-demand website by selecting “log in as a guest.” On-demand videos will be available through July 2023.

For students in Northeast Ohio, CYCE offers several career exploration opportunities:

  • ·       The Student Pathways program engages students in a six-week curriculum that exposes them to clinical and non-clinical careers and teaches them vital skills such as interviewing and resume writing.
  • ·       CYCE offers shadowing opportunities to college students and other adults, and will allow high school juniors and seniors to sign up for shadowing opportunities beginning Feb. 14, 2023. Students will be able to sign up for shadowing experiences across various healthcare careers on the Clinician Nexus platform.
  • ·       Our two summer internship programs for high school students, the Louis Stokes Internship Program and the Science Internship Program, offer paid experiences in clinical and non-clinical settings. Students enrolled in these programs will also participate in wellness activities and leadership training.
