The Ohio Department of Education posted new information about how to support students with disabilities who have complex needs on its Reset and Restart Education webpage. Remote learning may pose exceptional difficulties for these students. Yet, Ohio schools share the goal to challenge, prepare and empower all students with disabilities for future success. This information, written in collaboration with the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities and Ohio Department of Medicaid, specifies various considerations that should be made toward ensuring the best educational services under the current circumstances.
Additionally, important resources have been added to the existing social-emotional learning section of the Reset and Restart Education website. These updates provide vital information about suicide awareness and prevention and include links to mental health resources that can be helpful for both students and educators alike.
Finally, the Department recently published the 2019-2020 Student Wellness and Success Fund Survey Data Report that summarizes how schools and districts used funds alongside community partners to address the needs of the whole child. The entire report is available online.
